Open Lecture on Yiddish Folk Songs

On May 17, 2023, the renowned Israeli musicologist Dr. Michael Lukin presented an open lecture at the campus of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Lukin specializes in the musical folklore of Ashkenazi Jews. The topic was “Musical taytsh: reality and fantasy in traditional Yiddish folk songs”. The Yiddish word “taysch” means an interpretation or a commentary.
